A restaurant franchise is a chain of restaurants that is owned under a shared corporate ownership or under franchising agreements. The restaurants all have the same name and typically carry the same menu. You can find the establishments in different locations throughout the world. It is not a common occurrence to see fine dining franchises. Most franchises are fast-food or casual dining restaurants.
Fast food franchises are restaurants that prepare and sell food quickly. Their foods are meant to be eaten quickly and on the run. They mostly consist of burgers and pizza. They use precooked foods and try to estimate the amount of visitors they will have walk through the door and what they will order. If the food isn’t sold within a few hours it has to be discarded. Although they might have tables where customers can sit down to eat the majority of their business is purchased for take-out. Most fast food restaurants have a drive-through window where patrons can order from their car and pick up their food from a window and drive away. Because the food is designed to be consumed on the go it is mainly finger type foods where cutlery is not needed. Fast food is known for being high in fat content and not nutritious. Too much fast food consumption can increase weight and elevate the risk for diabetes in individuals.
Casual dining franchises are ever popular today. Unlike fast food chains casual dining restaurants offer the opportunity for families and couples to relax in a more casual environment. Customers and seated at tables and waitresses and waiters take their orders. A Chef or Head cook prepares their meal and the servers then deliver the food to their tables. Because of the busy lives of individuals today casual dining allows them to relax and enjoy a meal without having to prepare their own meals and having to clean up afterwards. Most casual dining restaurants serve their meals inside of their establishment but some offer their guests to be seated and served outdoors.
